After moving to the village house it's been hard to find everything and we have no idea where the internet router is, so I can't put any new pictures on here from the laptop. So I'll just tell you about Malaysia for now, pictures later.
We spent a few days in Kuala Lumpur and sampled all the street food and had a look around at the markets. We walked over to the Petronas towers (the huge twin towers with the sky bridge) because you can see it from just about anywhere in the city and had a look around. It looks like a spaceship or something. I noticed the toweres and the mall inside along with the attractions there were a bit cheesy. We also went to a hindu temple, the Batu Caves, that was really cool. There were a huge amount of Indian immigrants so it was neat to see the hindus walking around in traditional clothes. Besides that KL wasn't extremely interesting, but the food was delicious. A nice dinner meal cost about $1.75 usd!! So if we wanted to eat expensively it would cost about $3.50. Fresh fruit was so cheap and good as well. At our favorite stall I got three big bags of diff kinds of fruit for under 1 dollar.
After a few days we took a bus from KL to a national park rain forest, Taman Negrara. Here we spent three days trekking around and trying to avoid the mosquitoes or giant spiders or national geographic worthy looking bugs. There were monkeys playing on the roofs of the lodge we stayed in and I got some funny pictures. The main attraction was the canopy walkway, which you'll have to wait and see in the pictures.
Then we took another bus to the Parentian Islands which were very beautiful. We just relaxed on the beach and ate food the whole time we were there. We couldn't be bothered to go snorkeling because we were too tired from all the long bus rides. So after two days of swimming in oddly warm ocean (but extremely clean and clear) and attempting to avoid sunburn (it was in the 90's to 100 degrees) we took another long bus ride back to KL. My friends went to Singapore and I stayed with Jeff's parents and met all of my 2nd cousins. This was quite fun and again we ate tons of food. They held a family reunion since Anna and Jeff were there and it was neat to see Naomi playing with all her little cousins.
